Rudraksha is a natural seed, not a stone, and it lasts longest if you treat it as one. Take it off before a shower — soap works into the grain and dulls it, which is the most common reason a rudraksha bracelet stops looking new. Wipe the metal with a dry, soft cloth. Once or twice a year, work a drop of a natural unscented oil — olive, almond or sandalwood — into the beads with a soft brush, so they don't dry out. Keep it away from harsh chemicals, and put it on after aftershave or deodorant rather than before. Store it in the box it came in when it isn't on his wrist.
